1966 e a soli 15 anni inizia la sua formazione come apprendista; prima
dei 20 anni ha già il suo laboratorio artigiano e fin dai primi

doppietta Venus della ditta FAMARS di ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI, la
riproduzione di famosi particolari tratti dalla “CAPPELLA SISTINA” del
grande MICHELANGELO, visto il risultato, arrivano richieste di grandi
collezionisti, quindi seguono opere dedicate a CARAVAGGIO, RAFFAELLO,
RUBENS e ancora MICHELANGELO. Nel 2000 parte la collaborazione in esclusiva con la ditta FAMARS dove realizza incisioni classiche del mondo venatorio. Gardone V.T. - Brescia - Italy - Sandwiched between the busy thoroughfare
and the Mella river is the FAMARS factory, a spacious, well-lit two-story
building built by the company a decade ago as its primary gunworks. This is where A&S guns are made, "lock, stock and barrel." Except for bought-in barrel blanks and engraving, all work is performed in-house. The heavy work begins dowstairs, in the machine shop, at ground level. Although there are CNC machines, most of the equipment is the same conventional milling machines and lathes you'd see in any well-appointed but traditional fine-gun factory. My guide is Marco Cavazzoni, Cristina Abbiatico's husband. Cavazzoni has been responsible for reorganizing the production flow, in part to cope with the increased orders FAMARS has taken during the past few years. It was also Cavazzoni who pushed for bringing CNC capabilities in-house. FAMARS uses no casting in its guns; actions are machined from a solid forged billet of CR2 steel (18NiCrMo5) and internal components are from GNB 2/TR (39NiCrMo3). Presently CNC machines are used for fashioning the actions and triggerplate lockwork of the Excalibur as well as making pinless sideplates and components for the Sovereign and Pegasus models. The goal? Producing interchangeable internal components that are machined, then finished to perfect tolerances - not so much as a cost-saving measure but to ensure utter reliability from gun to gun. Even unadorned, the metal finishing on FAMARS guns is incredible. External and internal surfaces are burnished to a mirror finish, and metal tolerances defy written description... |

Val Trompia (BS), the five partners of Creative Art work with effort
and enthusiasm, carrying on a projet that was started about three years
ago. This projet consist in forming a work team which can offer the customer (gun makers or individuals) a complete service featured by good quality and relatively quick execution times. We shall try and explain more in detail what this service is all about. When one talks about engravings, one should be talking about the different techniques relevant to this specialization and of the possibility to have ornaments, landscapes, hunting scenes or other design patterns engraved on an objet. An engraving may be carried out by means of a hand graver, by a scriver and hand graver, by a scriver and small hammer, by chisel; it may have gold inlays or it may be an integration of all these techniques. It is also possible to request only an English scroll pattern or an ornamental pattern, or simple hunting scenes or scenes with a contour.. These works may be arranged with different complexity degrees, and they may also include simple inscriptions on the barrels or on the action, engraved initials on a coat of arms made out of different materials, and so on. Apart from shotgun and collection knives, engravings may also be executed on medals, gold-work components, matrixes for copper-plate engraving prints, as well as for other applications too. |

- Brescia - Italy - If Cesare Giovanelli had been working during the
Italian Renaissance as a master chiseller, howould probably have been
considered on a par with Benvenuto Cellini. In those times steeped in art and fine taste, he would have been covered in praise. On the shiny steel or other metal surfaces of guns, he engraves rural scenes, hunting parties and evenfigures from Botticelli's Spring. In a word, he is a fully-fledged artist, who on the wrong side of fifty and with his own studio, is universally consideredas one of the best engraversof our times. The surprising thing, however, is not his total dedication to his particular branch of art which involves patient hammering on a chisel to give the best of himself, but rather the constant preoccupation with conveying his skillto others so that the fine art of engraving does not die out. Cesare Giovanelli's story has been told over and over again. In 1965 he opened his first small workshop at Magno di Inzino, right in the heart of the mountains so greatly beloved by him. His works rapidly earned a name for themselves and his studio startedto expand into what nowadays is a flourishing business. |

| The ideology
of Giusy Rampini Some people may prefer a sheet of paper and a pen or a Computer to write their memories of life or their feelings towards a particular situations. Instead, I have used my gift for painting to describe all the moments that have been imprinted in my mind. I prefer to use canvas and delicate pastel colours to show others the memories and feelings which have been impressed enduringly in my mind. Painting helps me to express my innermost feelings and gives an everlasting quality to my personal feelings and emotion. Without my paintings these personal feelings would only be impressed upon my memory and would fade over the years. It is not easy to bring to life and eternalise my sensations. This is one of the reasons why I’m so diligent in my work and why I use visual means of communication that is comprehendable to all people. I have had many experiences in the world of art: I made some frescoes and I restored some antique paintings but only the representation of nature is capable of inspiring and releasing my creativity; wild animals, the mountains and the woods are an almost fatal attraction for me. In my opinion it is not easyfor humans to live in harmony with the world of nature. We have Difficulty relating to other creatures who share our earth. As we can’t speak to them, we need a kind of interpreter. For me the dog is the perfect mediator between the world of man and the wild world of nature, that in many aspects reamins unknown to man. The dog’s noble soul has an iron will that no other animal possesses. Dogs are marvellous creatures, able to serve us without asking anything in return but still maintaining a complete sense of indipendence. Dogs are an important part of my life. Since childhood and later on in life, I have always wanted them nearby to me, especially whilst on long treks in the mountains. In this way dogs have become one of my most favourite subjects and I find it easy to fix on canvas the feelings they inspire in me: their muzzled expression, their movement and the strain of a dog pointing are significant moments for me. The many facets of a dog’s behaviour are dependent upon the environmrent around them. In few seconds the quit atmosphere of the Alps can be transformed with the arrival of the hunt. Almost immediately the drama of prey being ambushed can make unique and without comparison. My approach to hunting, in part, stems from my love of dogs and my intrinsic disposition as a hunter. |

- Brescia - Italy - Mr Umberto Babatti started working for his uncle,
Mr Bortolo Tanfoglio, and for important gun factories like Beretta and
Bernardelli when he has very young. Growing into an experienced and skilled craftsman, Mr Sabatti began to feel the need to express his abilities as freely as possible and in 1940s he decided to start producing side locks for hunting guns on his own. This business proved to be a success hanks to his craftsmanship and reliability. Later on Mr Sabatti's sons, Segio and Fiorenzo, entered their father's firm supplying so many fresh energies and enthusiasm that in 1973 the firm developed into a new Company called "SABATTI F.lli S.&.F. Snc". The Sabattis decided to become specialized in hot-and cold pressing of Springs on presses or friction screw presses and started to equip their Company with the most up-to-date and technologically advanced machines.
